TELL ME HOW YOU REALLY FEEL

Friday, January 11

Fridays have become the de facto Music day. But since I've got no new music to share today, I'll just share something else. Bear with me.

I hold things in. I don’t know when I learned that. It's probably been the best thing about me and the worst. The best because I avoid fights, I have learned how to hold my tongue, I am politically correct, don’t offend anyone and alls good in the world. But there's just some days where you have to be bold enough to own how you feel about something and ready to deal with any repercussions that may come. This is my step into speaking up a little more, trusting my opinion and dealing with opinions unlike mine.

So I’m going to try a quick experiment and tell you how I really feel about a few things, all while maintaining a certain level of civility.  I’ll start with smaller things in life.

  • I can’t take dance music beats in all the music on the radio. It seems like now, hip hop r&b, even alterna/rock music has the same dance beat. WTH is that? (Showing my age?  Maybe).
  • I swear in my head practically every morning on the train. That’s because I HATE everyone on the train Mornings and Nights and Weekends, OK- all the time.  I know I’m better than that…but it’s the only release I’ve got.
  • I don’t like Juicy Couture Sweats or anything that has lettering on your behind. It’s just so confusing and distracting to me.
  • I can be very judgmental/hyper-critical of other people's taste in music, and yet I love K-Pop and was dancing to N’Syncs ‘No Strings Attached” album the other day.
  • I don’t like commentary on celebrities or people I don’t know, but I really think Lance Armstrong is not a very nice person and deserves the ban.
  • Along the same lines, I don’t like Katt Williams, yet I have never listened to his comedy. I think the Target smack-down was enough to form an opinion.
  • I will never tell you that you have a booger, spinach in your teeth, see through tights etc- I guess I’m not a good friend. It’s just that I’m just so very embarrassed for you.
  • Please stop watching crass reality TV, STOP IT. PLEASE. That mostly goes for anything with "Wives" in it.
  • I think most people are somewhat superficial and materialistic…and that includes ME.
  • Sulphates, Cones, Mineral Oil…. I don’t check and I don't care. Ooops.
  • Green smoothies, tried them ... Sigh!
  • In my head, you became an Alcoholic the moment you got that 3rd drink… I know you’re not really, but you are in my head.
  • I LOVE using Instagram, Not so much Twitter.

Whew, got that off my chest with only a mild fear of offending/alienating any of my readers.
That wasn’t so bad, maybe I’ll make this a thing.

Anything you want to get off your chest. As P.B.O says, disagree without being disagreeable.
Is it a bad idea to speak up? Should you always say nothing, if you have nothing nice to say?
What say you?

Have a nice weekend.

  1. LOL. I love this.
I hate everyone when I'm in traffic.
I can't stand tourists who don't know where they're going and sometimes I want to swear at them. out loud.
I'm with you on the alcoholic thing - I've lost interest in men based on that.

  3. This is great!! Please do it more often :-).

I hate when people wear leggings as pants, except for to the gym.
When people say, "Only you could wear that; I never could." I want to punch them in the face for doubting themselves.
I also want to punch people in the face who ask me if my hair is real and argue me down when I tell them it is, lol.
I swear in my head to the people driving slow in front of me on the freeway.
I think a lot of style bloggers are too busy being inspired by each other's outfits, instead of creating inspiration for their readers.

I think I'll stop there before I get myself in trouble. Love this Cyn!!

    1. that can be so frustrating, its one thing to be surprised about your hair, its another thing to argue that its real.

  4. Bravo on following your heart. It’s ok to speak your mind because this is your personal feeling moreover it’s important that we recognize the need to be true to ourselves and others. Hope this is a happy journey of rediscovery and that if you see “ a booger, spinach in my teeth, see through tights etc.” please do tell me lol. I am always happy to read your posts, no matter the subject. Also, you are one among the sweetest, most sincere friends I have, kept that new attitude. Hope this new approach helps you find balance and joy in your life and blogging as well.
    Have a happy Friday!

  5. I really really dislike my neighbor and ran into her by chance today after so many months of trying to avoid her . She had the nerve to say something about me to a guy while the lift was closing . I was so angry that I yelled at her back but so glad I got out of the lift when she got in . She has been causing me so much distress with noise every day being in the apt. right above mine .

  6. I liked this...I don't swear in my head, I swear out loud. I'm guilty of wearing words on my bottom teehee...haven't done so i in years though and since I'm only 21, technically I was still a child. I used to be one of those women who boycotted reality tv and then I was introduced to Joseline Hernandez...I think that show is a damn sitcom...I'm actually going to start the green smoothie thing this year...I don't drink often at all...prolly once a month (alcohol tastes bitter to me) and I am an instagram, twitter, youtube addict. :)

  7. I'm a tongue holder especially on social media. I'm on it to have fun and relax anything else? Not interested.

Off to google what a cone has to do with hair. That's the second time I've heard it today.

  8. Lol, I love this. I'm actually the opposite, I kind of say whatever comes to mind, of course try not to offend. I will tell most people if they have a booger or something on their tooth.I don't understand why folks gotta turn everything to a party ie debate and election parties that popped up everywhere, same people attending don't know their local officials. Personal business all up in social media, family, relationship, whatever, it just doesn't belong on my feed. Coconut water, omg I hate coconut water. I grew up on an island didn't like then don't like it now. That felt good!

  9. I give the people if they deserve it, good or bad. I made the resolution 2 years ago and have kept it. My life is much better. '

    - You HAVE to tell people when something is in their teeth, panties showing. Be NICE.

  10. Ha ha!!! Too funny. I get so freaking sick of always having to take the High road or being the good friend when everyone else can be jerks or not show up for your Best friends 7yr old's Birthday Party and you don't have kids! I hate hanging with coworkers on business trips, WE'RE NOT FRIENDS AND WE DON'T HANGOUT AT WORK! It's none of your business how much I paid for my shoes. Stop judgeing me because YOU have kids and I don't and I can buy expensive shoes. No I'm not in debt, yes I have a diversified portfolio and i pay ALL of my bills on time. Shut up, leave me!

  11. I like this post, it takes courage to be yourself and that is why one of my favorite encouraging words which I love to say and mean it each time I say it is, "Thank you for being you". There is no other you. God made you unique and beautiful. We all have changes we need to make in Life, but I believe believing in the God who made the Heavens and earth and seeking to follow Truth from the bible allows you to change inside out and pour out unconditional love to your world. So since we are talking truths...this is mine...some say to me just be real....does God have to come into everything?...I make no apologies...like it or not, "this is me, my faith is not what I do is who I am". So love is my greatest goal even when it hurts. So thanks Cyn for sharing your thoughts it takes great courage, "Thanks for being you"...and PS "Tell me when there is spinach in my teeth LOL"

  12. I'm still battling with that myself. It's like, do I say something only when it really rocks my core? But what if I let all the little things build up and then blow up when that big issue comes up? For me, it's a fine balance that I haven't quite mastered.

In other news, people who smack get on my last good nerve, lOl. It's okay to close your mouth; in fact, I'm sure the food tastes better that way.

  17. I can't stand the abbreviation 'LOL' I mean, are you really? are you really laughing out loud ? if you are then use appropriate words to describe it so. "Funny; That really made me laugh; Haha" LOL is so ugly and juvinile, I can't even deal.

  18. Love your blog!

The dance music beats...we are >>here<<.

Substitute green smoothies for coconut water. I couldn't get past 2 sips.

I judge people's grocery carts, especially when they have children. I know it's not right, but a cart full of instant-, high-sodium, high-sugar, and nothing fresh or living makes me give your cart a side eye.

  20. i love this list. it is so funny. I'm going to do one in my journal so i can look at it in the future and see how i progress with regards to what annoys me lol. But let me update you on the Katt story; he slapped the man for calling him a "nigger" twice! he told the man not to the 1st time but he insisted. he also got fired from target

  22. I feel you on the juicy couture outfits and dance beats but Cyn, I thought we were on the same page otherwise. You gotta tell people about boggers in their nose, pop culture/celeb commentary is great, and reality TV just adds character to life (thats what I tell myself anyway). I feel so judged now. lol Not really but it does give us more insight into who you are as the woman behind the blog. I love you anyway even if it means we will never sit down and watch Love and Hip Hop together. lol
